Explaining Nursing profession Policy Challenges; A Qualitative Study

Introduction: Nursing is the largest profession in the health system, which is influenced by the policy-making process of health managers. Nevertheless, nurses play a diminutive role in nursing profession policy. This study aimed to explain the challenges of nursing profession policy in the form of a qualitative study. Materials and methods: This qualitative research was content analysis. The research population consisted of managers, faculty members and nursing planners who were selected based on the goal. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with them to gather information and extract opinion from the participants. After the implementation of the interviews, their analysis was profession out using conventional content analysis method. Findings: In this study, 14 interviews with senior decision-makers (10 women and 4 men) were conducted, with a mean of 4,3 ± 9,2 years. 11 of them were experts and the rest were senior experts. After analyzing the data, ultimately, the two main categories were "meta-Organizational Challenges and In-Organizational Challenges." Conclusion: This study showed that major challenges in nursing policy-making in the two main meta-organization categories included defective upstream policies and the lack of understanding of profession requirements by legislators, and within the organization, including the lack of policymakers, the impact of other professions And a weakness in the implementation of policies that are necessary to address these challenges of proportional measures.
